These awards come from a variety of agencies in the private, state, and federal sectors. Such data is available to the public in the SDBOR Factbook. Herein, I report the last five years of grants. Research at the Federal Level Recently, there was discussion as to changing the indirect rates to 15% for all federal grants; however, researchers noted that this may impact research and scholarship at institutions of higher learning. Recently, it was determined through legal means that states may use their current indirect rates on salaries for federal grants. Federal funding has not been paused overall. Although certain agencies may impose temporary holds for specific reasons, there is no broad pause at the federal level.
