- 7 - NSU Office of Residence Life Residence Halls The Office of Residence Life at Northern State University knows that all students are individuals and bring with them their own unique experiences and needs. Because of this we offer a variety of physical facilities and living options for our students to choose from. GREAT PLAINS EAST is a pod-style residence hall that houses up to 151 students. Great Plains East is home to the TRIO Living Learning Community, the Honors Living Learning Community, and the School of Education Living Learning Community. The lobby of Great Plains East is where you will also find the POD-Store and Created with Love that features a constantly changing menu. GREAT PLAINS WEST is a suite style hall and houses 148 students. West has a variety of living arrangements, offers a kitchenette and lounges on each floor and houses Northern’s only wild-game cleaning room. Great Plains West is home to our Nursing Living Learning Community. KRAMER HALL is Northern’s most recently renovated hall, reopened in 2009. Kramer is a coed hall housing approximately 80 students and is configured with two, three and four person suites. McARTHUR-WELSH HALL is a large co-ed hall by floor, which houses approximately 50 students on the first two floors all in single rooms. Students commonly refer to this hall as McWelsh. McWelsh is Northern’s Pet-Friendly Residence Hall. STEELE HALL, located on the southwest edge of campus, offers our students four-person suites consisting of a living room and bathroom between two double rooms. WOLVES MEMORIAL SUITES is one of our recently built halls (2017) and houses up to 144 students in a variety of suites and semi-suites. Wolves houses our Criminology Living Learning Community and Gaming Themed Housing. Located on the Northwest corner of campus, Wolves is a welcome addition to our campus! All halls are designated as non-smoking (campus is smoke-free) and alcohol is prohibited on campus. Changes in hall designations may occur without advance notice. Floors and rooms are designated for a certain sex based on occupancy projections made in early spring or summer. If, at some point prior to opening the halls, a change in the number of spaces available to men and/or women is indicated, we may make this change and reassign the affected students. All double rooms are equipped with two single beds (bunked), dressers, desks, and chairs. You will need to provide your own pillow and linens, bedspread, curtains (blinds are included), lamp and any other decoration you may wish. Two, three and four person suites include extra-long twin size beds, and a bathroom complete with a shower, toilet and sink area. Desks, chairs, couches, tables, dressers, and wardrobes vary from room to room. Suites/Semi-Suites in Kramer and Steele Hall are furnished with a MicroFridge unit.
