2 Welcome Welcome to the Northern State University (NSU) Rising Scholars (RS) Program. Rising Scholars Program | Northern State University The Rising Scholars program is a concurrent enrollment program. Concurrent enrollment courses are taught during the regular high school day by high school teachers that have met the South Dakota Board of Regents (BOR) requirements. The Rising Scholars program follows the guidelines set by the SD BOR. Academic Affairs Guidelines 7.1 In registering for RS courses, you are eligible to receive credit at both the high school and NSU. The credits you will receive will be transcribed to an NSU transcript. This is an excellent way to get a jump start on college while concurrently satisfying high school requirements. RS teachers are selected and supported by NSU collaborating faculty. Please remember that as a college course, the expectations are at the college level, including content, assessments, and exams. These courses are equivalent to a regular section on the NSU campus. These are college courses, and you are a college student! NSU Rising Scholars program is accredited by the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP). The NSU Rising Scholars Program is the only such program in South Dakota that is accredited by NACEP. The Rising Scholars Program has met NACEP standards designed to ensure quality in the areas of curriculum, faculty, student services, assessment, and evaluation. Visit www.nacep.org for more information. Scholarship Students may receive a scholarship for taking Rising Scholar courses if they become an NSU student. Please see High School Dual Credit | Northern State University for details. Benefits Benefits of Rising Scholars Concurrent Enrollment Include: ➢ Getting a jump-start on college.
