As of March 31, 2021. Collected from SDBOR Counseling Center Directors. Additional data is available on student wellness in the Northern State University Drug-Free Schools and Campuses Regulations Biennial Review for the academic years of 2018-2020. The Northern State University Social Norms Survey (2019-2020) contains data on: • Alcohol consumption • Tobacco and electronic vapor products usage • Marijuana/Synthetic Marijuana Use and Prescription Drug Use and Risk • Northern’s alcohol and drug policies and campus atmosphere • Suicide The report may be found at https://www.northern.edu/sites/default/files/biennial-review-18-20.pdf. EVALUATION: Female students seek counseling services in larger numbers than male students even when compared to the total population. Efforts should be made and articulated in the next strategic plan to encourage more help seeking behaviors in our male student population. Total unique students for 2020-2021 academic year (100) scheduled a total of 687 appointments. However, the average appointments per client was only 3.47. This would suggest a higher than expected “no show” rate or a small number of students with far more appointments than the average student (super users). Considering the value of clinical time, efforts will be made to ensure efficient distribution of clinical resources. Adjustments will be made in Titanium© to track “no shows” and to produce a more specific understanding of the distribution of appointments (mean, median, mode, and range).
