STUDENT AFFAIRS 20 ANNUAL REPORT Objective 7: Create Inclusive Communities. Through diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, we build and support student communities that value and welcome all people. We are focused on retaining and graduating underrepresented students and recognize this work as foundational to the mission and values of Student Affairs. Our work promotes “a learning environment that exposes students to and encourages exploration of a variety of ideological and political perspectives” (SD House Bill 1087). Key Results: Key Result Description Status 83 Hire a Multicultural Student Affairs Postponed due Coordinator to advance to budgetary underrepresented student recruitment restraints and student diversity, equity and inclusion training and programming. 86 Student Affairs will work to identify Accomplished the Diversity Action Committee (DAC) as a Strategic Action Pillar Team. 87 Student Affairs will recruit and Accomplished nominate a DAC co-chair to assist the chair with Strategic Action activities. 88 Student Affairs will request that DAC Accomplished be listed on the official registry of university committees available on the myNSU Portal. (Now known as Diversity Action Pillar Team). 89 In partnership with Academic Affairs, Significant Athletics, and HR, host an annual Progress professionally facilitated diversity, equity, and inclusion training for student staff, staff, faculty, and Senior Cabinet. 92 Update the Poster Approval and Accomplished Hanging Policy consistent with principles of free expression (Aligns with Objective 4: Expand Student Engagement Opportunities).
