STUDENT AFFAIRS 5 ANNUAL REPORT Student Affairs launches a Strategic Action Plan Crafted in the fall of 2020 by the Student Affairs team, the Student Affairs Strategic Action Plan (2021-2025) clearly articulates the Division’s values, prioritizes their work, and brings the Student Affairs team together in a healthy work environment. The plan advocates for student development, holistic wellness, and engagement – the prerequisites for student success. The identified Objectives and Key Results have guided Student Affairs in resource decisions and provided team members with clear expectations. After review by the Student Government Association, Faculty Senate, the Diversity Action Committee (now known as the Diversity Action Pillar Team), the Athletic Council on Community, Culture, and Social Justice, the Campus and Community Prevention Coalition, Aberdeen Police Department Chief Dave McNeil, and the Student Affairs Council, the plan was officially launched and endorsed by Senior Cabinet on February 2, 2021. The plan was developed despite a global pandemic and with “the knowledge that hard times require bold leadership and a recommitment to what matters: our students,” noted Dean Blackburn. “Good strategic plans generate energy, inspire buy-in, and help spur the hard conversations necessary for growth and improvement,” added Blackburn. In March of 2021, Student Affairs launched a dedicated website to allow students, families, alumni, faculty and staff to learn about the plan and our progress to date. Each spring, an Annual Report will be issued to share the overall progress made toward plan Objectives and Key Results in the prior year.
