STUDENT AFFAIRS 19 ANNUAL REPORT Wolfy Student Engagement Awards The 37th Annual Wolfy Student Engagement Awards were held on April 25, 2024. The event recognizes students’ contributions to campus life, their growth in leadership skills, and creative involvement in campus life. Along with the Wolfy Awards, the offices of Admissions and Residence Life also take part in recognizing students within their departments for their achievements. See all the award winners for the 2023-2024 academic year in the side bar. Thanks to the leadership and efforts of Krista Bau for hosting the Wolfy’s in the absence of staff in Student Activities. Traditions Advance Student traditions help create a sense of identity and belonging among students, faculty, and staff. Healthy and prosperous college and university communities have vibrant traditions which unite members across graduating classes and different academic pursuits. The Student Affairs Strategic Plan (2021-2025) encourages the development and maintenance of appropriate student traditions with the goal of growing campus. Two projects were completed during the academic year. Tubaween is a Halloween-themed recital featuring low brass music and a script that highlights student talents, leadership, creativity, and uniqueness. The Student Government Association declared Tubaween to be a new annual student tradition on Nov. 29, 2023, as part of Key Result 115 of the Student Affairs Strategic Plan (2021-2025). Tubaween will celebrate its third show during Halloween of 2025. Collaborating with partners in Technology Services, a new Student Traditions website featuring student traditions was published during the spring semester highlighting key cultural milestones every Northern student should know about. Familiarizing students with campus traditions helps to solidify their practice, identity, and culture building. Publishing information about student traditions also helps new students adapt to their environment more quickly and without feeling left out. The idea to build a tradition’s website came from Dr. Erin Fouberg and the Move-in and Wolf Pack Welcome Coordination Committee meeting Fall 2021. The project was then codified as Key Result 119 of the Student Affairs Strategic Plan (2021-2025).
