41 2022 ARC3 SURVEY FINDINGS Prevalence of Sexual Violence Participants who indicated that they have experienced any form of sexual violence answered additional questions related to one incident that had the greatest effect on them. About 76% of the participants identified as female and 76% of the perpetrators were identified as male. The majority of the incidents locations were off-campus (64%). Participants also indicated that the perpetrator was a Northern student (61%) compared to someone who was not (38%). Survey participants responded that about 45% of them were using drugs or alcohol prior to the incident when about 55% did not. Additionally, participants identified that the perpetrator who attempted or completed the act of sexual violence were using drugs or alcohol prior to the incident (50%), while 21% were not, and 29% did not know the usage of their perpetrator. When asked who the perpetrator was, 92% reported knowing their perpetrator. Participants stated that 33% were an acquaintance, 28% were friends, 15% a former romantic partner, 13% current romantic partner, and 3% family member. When asked how the incident made participants feel, 75% felt scared. About 26% felt in danger, and 36% believed that the person would hurt them if they did not comply.
