NORTHERN TODAY 15 FALL 2017 The men’s and women’s cross country teams concluded regular season competition on Oct. 6 at the Jimmie Invite NORTHERN opened the season finishing in first (women) and second (men) as a team from the Herb Blakely Invite in Madison. Tanner Peltier led the men throughout the year as the top finisher from Herb Blakely, Roy Griak and Jimmie Invite. Donovan Miller was a strong performer for the men in his first season with the Wolves. Likewise, Dakotah Bullen has been a strong competitor for the women, as the team’s top finisher all season long. Bullen also notched race wins at the Herb Blakey and Jimmie Invite. Sasha Hovind returned to the course for the Wolves at the Jimmie Invite finishing in second place, behind Bullen. Hovind and Bullen finished in fourth and fifth at the NSIC Championships, earning all- conference honors. The pair went on to the NCAA Central Region meet where they finished in second (Hovind) and fifth (Bullen) overall earning all- region accolades, and advancing to the NCAA Championships scheduled for Nov. 18 from Evansville, Ind. The appearance will be the third of her career for Hovind and second for Bullen. The women’s team as a whole finished ninth overall from the NCAA Central Region meet. CROSS COUNTRY SOCCER NORTHERN ATHLETICS FOR THE MOST CURRENT ATHLETIC NEWS VISIT NSUWOLVES.COM The NSU soccer team finished the 2017 season with a 5-10-2 record overall and 4-9-2 mark in the NSIC. THE WOLVES’ five victories came against Black Hills State (4-0), MSU Moorhead (1-0), Southwest Minnesota State (2-1), Minnesota Crookston (2-1) and Upper Iowa (2-1). Three Wolves were named to the NSIC All-Conference teams in Stephany Estrada, Shianne Rosselli and Sydney Shintaffer. Estrada was named to the third team, notching 24 total shots, 11 shots on goal, one goal and a team-leading four assists. Rosselli was named to the honorable mention team recording 28 total shots, 12 shots on goal, two assists and a team-leading four goals. Shintaffer was also named to the honorable mention team, recording 23 shots, seven shots on goal and three goals as a defender. Stephany Estrada Dakotah Bullen Tanner Peltier
