NORTHERN TODAY 6 SPRING 2020 Regional Sports Complex taking shape on campus On the southern edge of the Northern State University campus, the new NSU Regional Sports Complex is taking shape – and it’s on schedule to open for the fall 2021 athletic season. News | NORTHERN STATE UNIVERSITY THE SPORT S COMPL E X , which includes Dacotah Bank Stadium and Koehler Hall of Fame Softball Field, is the final component of the Educational Impact Campaign. The $55 million campaign, a collaboration with the South Dakota School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, also includes: A brand new SDSBVI, which opened in January, providing a state-of-the-art school that features larger classrooms and modern technology. The Athletic and Recreation Fields Complex, which opened in fall 2018, featuring a pavilion between a soccer competition field and football practice field, and serving as the new home for NSU Intramurals. First-Rate Enhancements The campaign has secured funds to begin construction of the Regional Sports Complex. Fundraising is ongoing, with the goal of providing first-rate enhancements for students and fans. Features will include a multipurpose events space with seating for more than 350 people; a designated tailgating lot; family-oriented activities such as bean bag tournaments and bounce castles; and seating closer to the action.
