NORTHERN TODAY 4 FALL 2020 News | NORTHERN STATE UNIVERSITY NSU students, faculty and staff came together for a successful semester of on-campus instruction, adjusting to various changes on campus. The South Dakota Board of Regents implemented a mask protocol, with masks required in all indoor public spaces on campus. Across campus, shared areas were spaced out to allow for a minimum of six feet of social distancing. That included classrooms, all of which were evaluated to determine a reduced COVID-19 capacity. This semester saw the introduction of the HyFlex model of instruction. HyFlex, which stands for Hybrid Flexible, includes face-to-face instruction supplemented with synchronous and asynchronous online components. In synchronous online mode, students in a different location are COVID-19: NSU campus rises to challenges of fall semester Fall 2020 was a long, tiring semester of dealing with the COVID-19 virus, but the Northern State University campus community rose to the challenge.
