NORTHERN TODAY 4 SPRING 2021 News | NORTHERN STATE UNIVERSI TY OCKORNY, associate professor of management and director of the NSU Honors Program, is the 2021 Foundation Faculty Excellence Award winner. Schwan, assistant professor of education, is the 2021 Outstanding Early Career Faculty Award winner. The Foundation Faculty Excellence Award recognizes faculty for excellence in teaching and learning, a sustained commitment to faculty service, and achievements in research and creativity within their discipline. The Early Career Faculty Award is presented to an early career, full-time faculty member who demonstrates a strong record and commitment to excellence in teaching, research and service. Foundation Faculty Excellence Award Bockorny, who has worked at Northern since 2009, received letters of nomination HE EVENT was held May 8, in the NSU Barnett Center. The spring ceremony once again allowed guests to attend. Each participating graduate received four tickets to use for family and friends. Alternate viewing sites were also made available in the Johnson Fine Arts Center, with the event live-streamed, to accommodate graduates with more than four guests. Delivering the commencement address was Joe Senger, one of this year’s NSU Distinguished Alumni. Senger, who graduated from Northern with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1972, is CEO of Dacotah Bank.
