NORTHERN TODAY 16 WINTER 2024 News | NORTHERN STATE UNIVERSITY HIS year’s GiveNDay will have a twist – the celebration will last 36 hours instead of 24 hours. “The extended hours will give all areas of campus an opportunity to share their stories, show their impact, and transform the lives of future Wolves,” said Aimee Roy, Northern State University Foundation director of development. This year’s GiveNDay celebration is slated to begin April 3, at 9 a.m., and last until April 4, at 9 p.m. GiveNDay is Northern’s annual day of giving that seeks to inspire all supporters of Northern to come together, show their pride and provide essential funding to all areas across the University. This event provides an exciting opportunity for giving at Northern State University unlike any other! Since its inception four years ago, Wolves supporters have outdone themselves every year. The first year, during the pandemic, raised over $192,000 and in 2022 over $330,000 was raised. Last year, over $450,000 was raised. “Because of our generous donors, last year we had over $135,000 in matching funds and challenge funds before GiveNDay even began,” Roy said. “Those generous gifts motivated over 1,500 alumni and friends of Northern State to compound that impact to unlock those match and challenge funds.” The donations given during the funding blitz support and celebrate over 30 different initiatives on Northern’s campus. From academics, clubs, and organizations to athletics and unique programs, Wolves supporters choose where to support. There are so many areas that utilize the gifts received on GiveNDay to provide critical programmatic funding throughout the year, Roy said. “The best part of GiveNDay is the collective momentum made by the Northern State University community; each and every gift received truly makes a difference in the lives of our students, faculty, and staff at NSU,” said Roy. The 2024 GiveNDay event promises to be just as impactful. “Our goal this year is to build on that Wolves Pride built by so many NSU alumni and friends over the years, continue to celebrate the Northern Experience our campus community is currently creating, and surpass 2,000 donors to provide beneficial funding to many areas of campus,” Roy said. T Goal for 2024 GiveNDay is 2000 donors Tatum Waldrop, left, and Jessica Splichal pie Dr. Kristi Bockorny for 2023 GiveNDay.
