NORTHERN TODAY 18 WINTER 2024 1983 Tony Anderson was elected President of the board for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. He will serve from March of 2023 through March of 2025. NRECA serves 42 million members through 900 electric cooperatives in 48 states. Anderson is the first person from Michigan to serve as President of this national trade association. 1984/2006 Major General Jeff Marlette, relinquished command of the South Dakota National Guard on Aug. 5, 2023. MG Marlette served as the Adjutant General of South Dakota since June 2019, commanding the over 4,000 members of the South Dakota Army and Air National Guard. Marlette enlisted in the National Guard, while attending NSU, in 1980. 1955 Milo Opp celebrated his 90th Birthday on Sept. 26, 2023 1985 Kim (Hieb) Gruebele retired after 37 years of teaching. She worked as both an elementary school teacher and speech/language therapist. 1971/1974 Michael Larson (1971) and Dr. Carol Larson (1974) recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary with a trip to Africa and the Middle East. 2020 Nicole (Wanttie) and William Olander were married on Aug. 5, 2023.
