STUDENT AFFAIRS ANNUAL REPORT (2025-2026) 27 To accommodate this transformative project, Lincoln Hall, which previously served as a residence hall and later housed the School of Business, along with Briscoe Hall, a former residence hall, were demolished. COUNTDOWN TO COMMENCEMENT As the spring semester got underway, Student Affairs and Northern kicked off a new tradition by officially beginning the countdown to one of the most exciting milestones of the academic year—May Commencement. With the 200‑days celebration in the fall and the 100-days celebration in the spring, graduating students joined together to celebrate, prepare, and take meaningful steps toward walking across the stage. The celebration brought together campus partners to support seniors as they approached their final semester. Attendees enjoyed treats, giveaways, and a wide range of opportunities designed to help them get ready for graduation. Students decorated their own graduation caps with supplies provided by Student Activities and Involvement and enjoyed 100 sugar cookies courtesy of Student Affairs. Career Services staff were on hand to share résumé and interview tips, while representatives from across campus provided information on micro‑credentials and Northern’s graduate programs. Attendees could also receive assistance with completing their graduation applications, record a short personal video message for commencement, and preview caps, gowns, and tassels from the Wolf Shoppe—with a chance to win a free set. The celebration also featured a photo opportunity at the Northern GRAD display, exclusive 20% discounts on apparel and giftware during the Wolf Shoppe’s Graduation Sale, and a senior bucket list to help students stay organized as they approach their final semester. The event celebrated seniors while ensuring they had the tools and information needed to feel confident and prepared for the big day. From finalizing academic requirements to exploring post‑graduation pathways, students found both practical support and memorable moments as the countdown continued. Students planning to graduate in May were reminded to submit their graduation applications by Thursday, March 31, and graduation apparel remained available for purchase through the online order form. Hosting the 200‑ and 100‑Days Before Graduation Celebrations supports Northern’s goal of achieving a 38% graduation rate or higher and fulfills Key Result 8 of the Student Affairs Strategic Plan (2025–30).
