Reestablish in‑person Avera Student Health Services on campus—including staffing, new furniture, space readiness, and communication to students, staff, and faculty—and expand care to staff and faculty. Implement a comprehensive threat assessment team training consistent with the research-based training topics from the National Center for School Safety. 123. Create and offer a faculty/staff threat assessment training for the Student Behavioral Education Series. 124. Launch a “See Something, Say Something” and Northern CARES marketing campaign aimed at students to promote a culture of care and bystander intervention. 125. Recognizing the link between access to firearms, prescription medications, and increased risks of suicide and addiction, we will host semesterly prescription drug take-back events that include the distribution of free gun locks. These events aim to prevent harm and raise awareness through community education and safe storage and disposal practices. 126. With the Pheasants Forever Student Chapter, host an annual hunt safe primer(s) for students, staff, and faculty with free gun locks. 127. With partners, establish mutual aid agreements to ensure that, in the event our residence halls or Wolves Den are rendered unusable due to emergencies such as fire or natural disaster, we can rely on partner institutions or community organizations to provide temporary housing and/or kitchen facilities to support students. In return, we are open to offering reciprocal support under similar circumstances. 128. With the Aberdeen Police Department, conduct a security review of the commencement ceremonies to ensure the safety and security of the event. 129. With Finance and Administration, establish a dedicated Title IX budget to ensure federal compliance. This budget will fund comprehensive and required trainings, educational initiatives, support services, and ongoing assessment of Title IX programs. 130. Build and publish Ready.Northern.edu as a web resource (modeled after ready.gov) for the emergency management plan, communication during emergencies, resources, and safety training. Build connected social media images and prepared messages to use in emergencies. 131. With Brown County Emergency Management, host two campus tabletop exercises per year to better train and coordinate emergency response across campus and local agencies. 132. With Nursing, offer first aid training for students, staff, and faculty. 133. Launch a 24-hour on-call program to support students, staff, and faculty in student distressing situations. 134. With Athletics, draft and approve a Student-Athlete Serious Misconduct Policy in compliance with SDBOR Policy 3.4.3. 135. With Aberdeen Police Department, form a working group to discuss and draft improvements to safety in the Aberdeen community and campus around high-risk drinking. 136. Conduct and score “proficient” on the NABITA Standards Self-Assessment for Behavioral Intervention Teams. 137. Achieve full compliance with the Stop Campus Hazing Act, including all required policies, reporting, and prevention measures. Specifically: a. Create and implement a new Hazing Policy. b. Create and publish a new Hazing Transparency Report. c. Identify Campus Safety Authorities and inform them of their responsibilities through training.
